So while juggling once dominated the scene with riddims shared by 20-30 artists, today’s landscape looks very different. Fewer voices now ride the same beat, and it’s the singles that mainly drive the dancehall core. Still, 2025 proved to be a strong and rewarding year for the hitmakers and the producers behind the sound.
As we prepare to close out another year, Kaboom Magazine continues its year-end review with the riddims that defined the season-serving as the soundtrack of dance floors, powering parties, and making their mark on the charts.
Rvssian - "Story Book", June 25
Story Book’s rollout was kicked off in June and led by dancehall phenomenon Vybz Kartel, whose theme single, built on a smooth, infectious beat, was destined to expand into a full juggling.
Valiant delivered what is probably his hit of the year with “Passenger Princess,” the anthem that eventually inspired the name of his historic North American tour. The song has already racked up 24 million YouTube views and sparked a wave of viral moments, especially among the ladies. Masicka’s “Rich Sex” also sat firmly atop the charts, holding its position for weeks with 23 million YouTube views so far, followed by a fresh remix featuring Afrobeats standouts Oxlade and Ruger.
The riddim also generated strong viral traction with contributions from Shenseea, Skippa, Dexta Daps, and more - each one highlighting Rvssian’s golden touch.
DJ Mac - Down Riddim, Dec 24
DJ Mac is a certified hitmaker, and this juggling earns its place on the list for one simple reason: it just dominated the first leg of 2025 in dancehall. It reinforced Mac’s reputation for delivering magnetic, catchy beats and producing hit after hit.
The riddim features Valiant’s “Down,” while Ayetian grabbed his piece of the momentum with “Balance,” which has surpassed 5.6 million YouTube views and helped fuel his breakout year. Skeng joined the lineup with “Black Rain,” now at over 7.3 million views, and Skippa, Vanessa Bling, Nigy Boy, and Bayka all added their own flair. Bayka’s “Miss Pretty” also became a viral banger, racking up more than 10 million views and later earned a remix with Spice.
CJtheChemist - NY Girls, May 25
American-based Jamaican producer CjTheChemist scored major success with his infectious NY Girls Riddim, one of the most seductive yet street-smart jugglings of the year. The wave began with Chronic Law’s “NY Girls,” a track that quickly turned into a club banger in both the U.S. and Jamaica, racking up millions of views and streams.
Valiant added his flair with “All Over,” which has surpassed 6.6 million views, while Armanii’s “Link Up” pushed close to 8 million views, cementing its own viral run. The riddim also includes Najeeriii’s “Finances” and Ajji’s “Skin to Skin.” To top it off, American-Moroccan rapper French Montana recently jumped on board for a remix with the Law Boss himself. From May straight through the end of summer, the riddim the riddim held its stretch on dance floors and street corners alike.
DJ Mac, WYFL, Dec 25
DJ Mac is easily one of the most popular producers in the game, leading the frontline of dancehall’s new-gen producers. From the moment WYFL dropped in November with Skippa’s theme single - now past 3.5 million views and holding the No. 1 spot on Apple Music Kingston for almost a month, it was clear the riddim, co-composed by CrashDummy, was about to shake up the place.
Artist after artist flowed in, trying to ride the momentum. Chronic Law secured a major hit with “Badness Upgrade 2.0,” Valiant delivered “Oh When,” and the flood continued with Govana, Tielo Lanez, Jahshii, and Tommy Lee Sparta. Practically everyone joined the line, turning WYFL into the riddim that ran dancehall through the final stretch of the year.
