For years, North Coast deejay C9 has built a respected name within Jamaica’s underground traphall scene. With 9 Is Now, however, his sound feels ready to move beyond the underground and reach a much wider audience.

Executive produced by G9 Records, with production from Faatal Music Production and Villin Beatz, the seven-track EP revolves heavily around money - not simply as material wealth, but as a reflection of ambition, hustle and enjoying the rewards of hard work. It’s music made for go-getters, where success is presented as a lifestyle rather than just a destination.

The project opens with “Trump Files,” immediately pulling listeners into C9’s world through his sharp punchlines and effortless delivery. When he declares, “All mi see a di money,” the direction of the EP becomes clear from the start.

That mentality carries into standout track “Banga Surgery,” where luxury is no longer something to dream about, but something to live. Millions in the phone, expensive fragrances and fast cars paint the picture as C9 delivers his bars with the confidence of someone already enjoying the lifestyle he raps about.

Production plays a major role in shaping 9 Is Now. The beats complement C9’s cadence while allowing him to move naturally between dancehall and trap influences. “Germany” brings a darker edge, while “Semi-Automatic,” which incorporates Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” provides one of the project’s memorable moments as C9 boasts about “playing with mills like Monopoly.”
