Reggae artiste Ras-I teams up with Kabaka Pyramid for new single
Reggae artiste Ras-I enters a focused, purpose-driven chapter with the release of his new single “These Are the Days,” featuring Grammy Award-winning reggae star Kabaka Pyramid, which was released on Friday, January 23. The track serves as the lead offering from Ras-I’s forthcoming third studio album, Heart of Love, slated for worldwide release on May 15.
At its core, the single is a reminder that faith alone is not enough - it must be matched with work, patience, and intention. Built around the striking refrain “prayers alone can’t do it,” the song speaks directly to the long road behind every visible win. Rather than a victory lap, it functions as a checkpoint, acknowledging the unseen effort that fuels real progress.
“These Are the Days is about understanding that prayer must be matched with preparation,” Ras-I explains. “We pray, we prepare, and we train, because faith without works won’t carry you where you’re meant to go. Life changes, the road gets demanding, but the focus must remain.”
For Ras-I, the release carries deep personal meaning, as he finds himself standing at what he describes as “the cusp of something great.” He sees the track as a reflection of years of preparation finally aligning with opportunity. “The conversations, the meetings, the acknowledgement leading up to this moment are things every artist prays for,” he shares. “But prayers without works won’t do it. We have to apply ourselves.”
That philosophy is woven into the fabric of the song itself. The opening line of the chorus stems from a phrase Ras-I and his mother would exchange whenever he achieved a milestone in his musical journey - a quiet affirmation that effort was paying off. From there, the record unfolded organically, shaped by live instrumentation and a collective studio energy that prioritized feeling over formula.
Kabaka’s appearance on the track is not incidental. His verse adds weight, history, and perspective, the voice of an artist whose success has been built through consistency, discipline, and belief in the process, even when the odds were unclear. “I feel like I am a different kind of success story than most,” Kabaka says. “I bring my unique journey, challenges, and experiences to the song. It’s a concept about putting in the work and not just relying on faith alone. Collaborations helped me on the journey, so I feel a duty to do the same for the younger generation.”
“We pray, we prepare, and we train, because faith without works won’t carry you where you’re meant to go. Life changes, the road gets demanding, but the focus must remain.”
For Ras-I, that lived experience is exactly why Kabaka Pyramid was the right collaborator for the record. He sees Kabaka’s path as one that younger artistes can study, proof that longevity and integrity still matter in reggae music.
Musically, “These Are the Days” remains grounded while still feeling expansive. Produced by Koastal King’s Keniel Drumz, who also handled drums on the track, the song features Nnamdi Robinson on guitar, Oniel Keys on keyboards, and Joshua Jones on bass. The result is a sound that feels lived-in and deliberate: reggae that breathes, rather than chases trends.
The single follows “Reggae Mountain,” released in December 2025 as the first offering from Ras-I’s forthcoming third studio album, Heart of Love. While the project explores love in its many forms - romantic, spiritual, and communal - “These Are the Days” turns inward, centering on love for the craft itself and the inner drive that keeps artistes moving forward through trials, tribulation, doubt, and delay.

“This album is about the kind of love that sustains you,” Ras-I adds. “The love that keeps you focused when life gets demanding, that reminds you who you are and why you started. Heart of Love is that vibration.” Reflecting further, he notes, “At times, the low moments may seem too heavy, but that love is what drives many of us.”
