“Could You Be Loved” by Bob Marley & The Wailers Earns 3× Platinum in the UK

Bob Marley & The Wailers’ 1980 classic “Could You Be Loved” has gone 3× Platinum in the UK, reflecting over 1.8 million units in the country, matching “Three Little Birds” as the band’s most commercially successful songs in the UK

Bob Marley & The Wailers’ 1980 classic Could You Be Loved has earned a 3× Platinum certification in the United Kingdom.


According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the track received an additional Brit Certified Platinum award after surpassing 1.8 million units in the UK, based on data from the Official Charts Company on Friday, May 1.


The song originally appeared on the group’s 12th studio album, Uprising, and was later featured on the iconic greatest hits collection Legend, as well as the Songs of Freedom box set released in 1992.



The track was first certified Gold in 2018, upgraded to Platinum on May 1, 2020, and reached 2× Platinum in 2024, now extending to 3× Platinum.


The milestone sees it matching Three Little Birds as one of the band’s most commercially successful songs in the UK.
