Dancehall’s Worl’ Boss Vybz Kartel continued to make history by selling out the Barclays Center for the third time this year, returning to the Brooklyn venue after two landmark shows back in April.
Kicking off CJ Milan’s Reggae Fest Massive Weekend on Labor Day in New York, the mecca of Caribbean music, Vybz Kartel delivered another masterclass performance, stepping out in a sharp azure jacket and treating fans to a set filled with reality tunes, ladies’ anthems, and spiritual vibes.
He opened with “Send Fi Mi Army” before running through a slew of classics from his seemingly endless catalog, too many to name, including “Untoppable,” “Gun Session,” “Brooklyn Anthem,” “Real Bad Man,” and “Money Pon Mi Brain.” He balanced the set with ladies’ favorites such as “Go Go Club,” “Bend Like Banana,” “Get Gal Easy,” “Nuff Gyal Mi Touch,” and “Fever,” as the crowd sang along word for word. The performance would not have been complete without his current spiritual anthem, “God Is The Greatest.”
Fans were treated to two global powerhouses. DJ Khaled ignited the crowd with a deep box of dubplates and 45s, showcasing his unrivaled knowledge of Jamaican music. He also gave a taste of his all star collab “You Remind Me,” with Kartel performing his verse from the track live for the very first time.
The energy rose another notch when American rapper Busta Rhymes hit the stage, marking his third performance with Kartel since the deejay’s release and thrilling local fans with some of his iconic hits.
Former Portmore Empire member Blak Ryno and super producer-turned-artist Rvssian also made cameo appearances, adding their own flavor to the night.
To close, the Queen of Dancehall Spice brought her trademark sex appeal and undeniable chemistry with Kartel, electrifying the crowd with their fan-favorite collaborations that have defined much of their careers.
By completing a “3-peat like Jordan” on one of the world’s most prestigious stages, Vybz Kartel has written his name into dancehall history. Like it or not, 2025 has seen Kartel elevate the genre to new heights.
