Review: Aidonia, Tommy Lee Sparta deliver at the ‘Best Weekend Ever’

With its 6 successful events including I Love Soca, Daybreak, Milk & Honey, Zimi Seh Beach, Allure and Late Check Out; it was just as the weekend says - 'The Best Weekend Ever'

The summertime is that time of year that offloads a huge number of events in Jamaica. The island is graced with one of the most fruitful and impactful weekend of events that attracts thousands of revelers both locally and from overseas.


What is dubbed as the 'Best Weekend Ever', literally was the best weekend ever, as stated by the majority of its attendees via numerous social media platforms. The 6 events over 4 days were held on the north coast of the island in Ocho Rios for Jamaica's Independence weekend saw thousands of patrons flocking to each event.

It begun on Friday, August 4th, in Pearly Beach, Ocho Rios, where soca fans enjoyed their favorite event, 'I Love Soca', headlined by dancehall artiste, LaaLee who gave his full set of hits including 'Bird', 'Floating', among others, accompanied by North Coast Boyz dance crew and also a performance by soca artiste, Viking Ding Dong from Trinidad.


On Saturday, August 5th; Daybreak Breakfast Party and Milk and Honey both took place at separate sections of the Plantation Cove complex. In the morning it was Daybreak which offered tasty food, perfect summer weather matched well with nonstop vibes led by musical onslaughts from JR Chromatic, Ricky Platinum & Coppershot Sound. For the night cap; Milk & Honey presented the high fashioned concept which saw its patrons dressed to match its pink and white concept. With an amazing food court and properly placed bars at both events, patrons were delighted with the array of food and beverage choices and ease of access.

Zimi Seh Beach kicked off Independence celebrations on Sunday, August 6th at the Puerto Seco Beach with the ladies mostly seen dressed in the tiniest of bikinis and the men following the event’s summer patterned dress code. The night event for the day was Allure ‘Tropical Riviera’, which was held at Pearly Beach and starred by an impressive performance by dancehall star Aidonia who delivered as only he can. The '1Voice' deejay also welcomed his protege, Tanso, with dancehall female songstress, Shaneil Muir making a surprise appearance during his set. His surprise acknowledgment of past rival artiste, Masicka have since circulated heavily across the social networks.


For the closing event of this busy weekend with already 5 amazing events backed by great reviews, the event, 'Late Check-Out' on Monday, August 7th definitely stood up to the test of closer, with its highly anticipated performance by dancehall heavyweight, Tommy Lee Sparta and its never-ending high-energy vibes from start to finish. The event described by most as the best event for the weekend capped off the weekend in fine style. Fresh from his successful performance at Reggae Sumfest, the Sparta Boss gave an energetic set while delivering a historic cameo performance from Skeng for their massive hit single, 'Protocol', to resounding ovations. The performance now viral across all social media platforms have now catapulted the event into the elite territory held by the previous 5 events before. Top selectors; the likes of Bishop Escobar, Jr Chromatic & Fyahman also electrified the stage during their sets.



With its name speaking for itself, the date for next year’s ‘Best Weekend Ever’ staging has already been set for August 2-6, 2024, and after this year's successful execution, the anticipation for next year is already high.
