International dancehall star Skillibeng had an impressive month in October, reaching a major milestone that highlights his global appeal and the continued demand for crossover collaborations.
Skillibeng officially surpassed 1 billion total streams on Spotify, boosted by breakout international hits such as “Shake It To The Max” featuring Moliy and Shenseea, and “Jump” with Tyla and Gunna, each accumulating hundreds of millions of streams and views.
Since his explosive arrival with “Brik Pan Brik” in 2019, it was clear there was something exceptional about the St. Thomas native. He has since expanded into global markets while maintaining his dancehall appeal, headlining City Splash Festival in England this October, where he performed for more than 15,000 fans, delivering an energetic set filled with crowd-favourite hits especially for his largely female fanbase.
As he rides the momentum of the “New Gears” remix with his mentor, dancehall megastar Vybz Kartel, Skillibeng is further cementing his footprint at home and abroad. Step by step, he continues to establish himself as one of the genre’s leading forces on the global stage.
This month belongs to Skillibeng, though we also can’t overlook Vybz Kartel’s incredible run this year, including three more historic, sold out shows at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, extending his extraordinary Worl' Boss Tour.
