Multi-platinum music icons Major Lazer are celebrating the release of their new GYALGEBRA mixtape with a special Miami Art Week block party on Thursday, December 4, an event dedicated to supporting Hurricane Melissa relief efforts in Jamaica.

Set for 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the parking lot of Coyo Taco (2320 NW 2nd Avenue, Wynwood), the release party will funnel all proceeds from ticket sales and merch directly to American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) and global crisis-response organization CORE, aiding their ongoing relief work across the island.

The evening will feature live sets from Major Lazer Soundsystem along with surprise guests. Admission is free with advance RSVP, while tickets will also be available at the door.

“Jamaica has been at the heart of everything for me,” frontman Diplo shared. “It’s shaped who I am and how I see the world. Even now, after so much loss, that same energy still shines. Seeing the destruction from Hurricane Melissa has been horrible. Entire communities are rebuilding from nothing, and they need our help.”

Diplo recently visited Treasure Beach in hard-hit St. Elizabeth, joined by Canadian-Jamaican model Winnie Harlow, volunteers from CORE, and the BREDS Foundation, delivering food and water to affected families and witnessing the devastation firsthand.

Diplo later teamed up with dancehall icon Sean Paul and Food For The Poor Jamaica, further expanding relief efforts on the ground.

“Jamaica has been at the heart of everything for me. It’s shaped who I am and how I see the world. Even now, after so much loss, that same energy still shines.”

GYALGEBRA marks Major Lazer’s first self-contained project in five years and the group’s first release with new UK-based vocalist America Foster. The nine-track mixtape was recorded between Jamaica, where Diplo and Switch originally formed Major Lazer in 2008, and Miami, home base for Walshy Fire and Ape Drums.
