ENCORE LIVE Ends Summer With Good Vibes and Capleton’s Fire

ENCORE LIVE: Culture Rising brought a fitting dose of Jamaican culture to Plantation Cove in St. Ann, offering patrons a laid-back way to close out the summer with reggae, sound system music, food and good vibes.

From early in the afternoon, patrons gradually made their way into the venue, enjoying the food and drink offerings while St. Ann-based sound system Bass Odyssey and Renaissance’s DJ Delano provided the musical backdrop. Iconic Jamaican saxophonist Dean Fraser later showcased his musicianship with a smooth performance, adding a live instrumental touch to the evening.

Reggae veteran Nesbeth warmed up the audience with a set powered by familiar favourites including “My Dream” and “Success Story,” before making way for the night’s headliner.

After midnight, reggae icon Capleton blazed onto the stage dressed in his trademark Rastafarian colours and quickly shifted the energy. Delivering the high-intensity performance fans have come to expect from the Fireman, he moved through selections from his extensive catalogue, including “Who Dem” and “That Day Will Come,” while maintaining his energetic movement and commanding stage presence.

With patrons styling for the occasion and a comfortable atmosphere running throughout the staging, Culture Rising delivered a nice blend of live reggae, sound system tradition and Jamaican culture. Presented by Midas Entertainment and 8 Rivaz Ultra Lounge, the event provided a feel-good cultural moment to help bring the summer season to a close at Plantation Cove.
