Jamaican reggae artiste Yaadcore has released his new single “Choppa Dem,” featuring rising artiste Imeru Tafari, son of reggae artiste Queen Ifrica.

The socially conscious track addresses youth violence in Jamaica, blending traditional Nyabinghi percussion with modern trap beats.

“‘Choppa Dem’ is an observation of the younger generation today,” Yaadcore explains. “This is not directed to only scammers, but younger youths in this generation who are glorifying the word demon, resulting in a bag of senseless killing. It is a social commentary on today’s society.”

The accompanying music video was directed by Jesse James, who has previously worked with Tarrus Riley, Govana and Royal Blu, among others. He also directed Yaadcore’s “Rasta Time” music video.

“Choppa Dem” is featured on Yaadcore’s upcoming seven-track EP Rasta Time, set for release on October 27 through Mixto Records and his own 12 Yaad Records label.

The track follows the EP’s first single and title track, “Rasta Time,” which celebrates the spiritual and cultural legacy of former Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie while highlighting Rastafari’s influence on modern wellness culture.

The project also includes collaborations with reggae icon Capleton and Afro-Mexican singer Malaïka, alongside acoustic and dub versions of the title track.
