Bob Marley's Burnin'Â officially earns gold in the UK
Burnin', the sixth studio album by Bob Marley and The Wailers, has officially earned Gold certification in the UK by the BPI, recognizing over 100,000 units sold. The classic project was also previously certified Gold in the United States by the RIAA for surpassing 500,000 units sold.
Released in October 1973, the project was written collectively by Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. The album was primarily recorded and produced in Jamaica alongside sessions for Catch a Fire, before additional recording, mixing, and final production took place in London during the Catch a Fire tour.
The classic body of work features iconic tracks including I Shot the Sheriff and marked the final album released by the trio before Marley, Tosh, and Bunny Wailer each moved forward with their solo careers.
The certification also makes Bob Marley and The Wailers’ eighth studio album to earn Gold status in the UK through the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), following Catch a Fire from 1973, Natty Dread (1974), Rastaman Vibration from 1976, Exodus (1977), Kaya from 1978, Survival (1979), and Uprising from 1980. the iconic greatest hits collection Legend has surpassed all certification thresholds and currently stands at 15× Platinum in the UK.
