Cardi B Opens Up About Her Passion for Fashion, Motherhood and Maduka Okoye

Cardi B is the latest cover star of Vogue Arabia, with the American rapper opening up about fashion, motherhood, her rumored relationship with Nigerian footballer Maduka Okoye, and the inspiration behind her latest single, “AH HA.”
Fashion has long been a major part of Cardi’s public image, and she revealed that her love for bold style dates back to childhood. “I always had a passion for fashion, and ever since I was a younger girl, I loved the style of Raven-Symoné,” she explained to journalist Manuel Arnaut. “I knew that I had to dress differently. Everyone around me was wearing Jordans and jeans, and I just wanted to dress in bold colours like Raven.”
She continued, “People might think that I don’t take a lot of things seriously. When it comes to dressing, when it comes to clothing, when it comes to putting everything together - from the hair to the feet - I don’t play. Everything counts.”
Cardi also addressed the rumors surrounding Nigerian footballer Maduka Okoye, goalkeeper for Italian club Udinese, after the two were spotted together during Paris Fashion Week in 2026.
“He was really sweet. When you see him on social media, he looks very strict, stern, but he is very kind,” she said. Asked whether fans could expect to see more of them together, Cardi simply responded, “I hope so.”
The Bronx native also reflected on motherhood and the sacrifices that come with balancing her career and raising her children.
“I try my best to have my kids around me as much as possible, but sometimes I can’t be with them. Mothers have to make sacrifices. They don’t make excuses. It’s sad, but we need to look at the bigger picture. I hope that my kids look at what I do and understand, ‘Mom was working her a** off.’”

“She wasn’t clubbing, she wasn’t dating, she wasn’t partying… Instead, she was making sacrifices for a better living, you know what I’m saying?” Cardi added.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cardi spoke about the inspiration behind “AH HA,” pointing to the jealousy and competition she frequently encounters. She also revealed that she spent more than $1 million on the single’s accompanying music video, which drops Friday, August 28.
“There’s a lot of jealousy around me all the time. All the time! It comes from these girls who think I want their baby daddy or that they are equal to me. Also from these guys… From everybody!” she said.
Cardi continues to build momentum ahead of her highly anticipated Caribbean headlining debut as part of her I Am Drama era. The superstar is set to take over Kingston’s National Stadium on October 18 as part of BZR WKND, with more than 50,000 patrons expected for the massive Jamaica show.
