The rising dancehall artiste experiments with alternative and rock sounds in a collaboration that's resonating beyond Jamaica

Witty takes an alternative route on the new single “Paradise”

Dancehall newcomer Witty has joined forces with acclaimed producer Shot By Deth for their new summer single, “Paradise,” a genre-blending release that fuses dancehall with alternative and rock influences. The collaboration aims to surprise listeners while showcasing Witty's versatility as an artiste.

“I've stopped looking for the right time. it just felt like the move I wanted to make. I've always loved this blend of sounds, and Witty is someone I regularly have those conversations with. When we came together to create ‘Paradise,’ the session was effortless,” explained Shot By Deth of DethWrld Records.

He added that the track offers something fresh for listeners. “It's different. It's its own wave - something alternative for the space. If you're into alternative music, this just might be the project for you.”

According to the producer, the strong friendship between the two creatives played a major role in bringing the record to life. “Me and Witty actually have a great friendship, so this is something we've talked about for a long time because we both respect that alternative-rock fusion. There was no better time than now. He came to the studio for a session one day, I made the beat on the spot, and ‘Paradise’ was born.”

Witty said the response to the single has been encouraging, particularly from international audiences. “The reception has been very good, especially from listeners outside of Jamaica. Collaborating with Shotty gave me the opportunity to blend dancehall with the alternative sound I've been working towards.”

Keanu Gordon, professionally known as Shot By Deth, is the visionary founder of DETHWRLD Records, a creative force at the forefront of a new wave in Jamaican dancehall, recognized for pushing boundaries and fusing the genre with fresh, contemporary sounds.
