Vybz Kartel secures first UK Gold certification with “Fever”
Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel has earned his first Gold certification in the United Kingdom after his 2016 hit “Fever” was certified Gold on Friday, July 3.
The certification was awarded by the British Phonographic Industry after the single surpassed 400,000 units in UK sales and streams, according to figures compiled by the Official Charts Company.
The achievement marks Kartel's first Gold certification in the UK. The deejay previously earned a Silver certification for “Fever” in February 2023, before receiving another UK Silver certification for “Summertime” in June last year. “Fever” was also certified Gold in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America in February 2020.
With more than 100 million total views on YouTube to date, “Fever” has become one of Kartel's signature records and a global dancehall anthem, further strengthening his fanbase in the United Kingdom while cementing his international appeal.
