Reggae on the River Returns for 36th Edition with Star-Studded Lineup at Eel River, California, August 1–3 — “Proof of Jamaica’s Lasting Impact on Global Music,” Says Tarrus Riley

Reggae on the River returns for its 36th edition from August 1–3, 2025, along the scenic banks of the Eel River in California’s redwood forests. This iconic celebration blends the natural beauty of Humboldt County with a world-class reggae experience.


This year’s stellar lineup features some of the genre’s biggest names, including Busy Signal, Tarrus Riley, Alborosie, Mr. Vegas, Charly Black, Julian Marley, Luciano, Yellowman, Queen Omega, Third World, Bugle, and more,delivering timeless performances that capture the spirit of reggae and dancehall.


Following a triumphant return in 2024, the 2025 festival promises an even more unforgettable experience for fans worldwide.

Saturday’s headliner, Tarrus Riley, who had busy summer as he also about to perform on Reggae Sumfest this year said "high-energy reggae music rocking on the river. I didn't even know all of that. Proof again of Jamaica's amazing indelible impact in world music history and culture. Reggae music has opened all these doors for you, me, and those to come. It's a pleasure to perform on such a stage. I'm coming to represent."


Grammy award-winning artist Julian Marley, who also performs on Saturday's bill, shared, “It’s always a pleasure to perform at Reggae On The River. Expect good vibrations and electrifying reggae music that complements the stunning surroundings of Humboldt County.”


Launched in 1984 to support the Mateel Community Center, Reggae on the River has become a global gathering that honors reggae, unity, and cultural roots. Held in the heart of Humboldt County, it unites generations of fans to celebrate the enduring power of reggae and dancehall amid nature and community spirit.



Closing out the festivities on Sunday night will be Jamaican superstar Busy Signal, who returns to the ROTR stage after a memorable performance in 2018. "Reggae music and Reggae On The River, you have to be there. My band and I are looking forward to rock with you.” said the Turf Boss, as he’s also known to his fans.


Attendees of the California festival can explore the vibrant Jah Mall Marketplace, featuring over 50 craft and artisan vendors alongside a global selection of food. Families can enjoy “Kidlandia,” a dedicated Kid Zone with fun activities, snacks, games, and puppet shows. As night falls, legendary afterparties powered legendary sound systems—like King Addies International (Brooklyn, NY) and Jah Works Sound (Osaka, Japan)—will keep the vibes going late into the night.


With three stages, scenic riverfront camping, and a welcoming vibe, Reggae on the River 2025 invites fans of all ages—whether longtime supporters or first-timers—for a weekend filled with music, culture, and celebration.
