Recording Artiste WHOSRILA Drops Pure Tribute to Love with “Made You”

The Kingston-born artiste blends reggae, hip-hop and R&B while exploring love and admiration from different angles

Kingston-born reggae crossover artiste WHOSRILA delivers a pure tribute to love with his new single, “Made You,” accompanied by a minimalist, performance-driven music video directed by Jesse James that allows the song’s heartfelt message to take centre stage.
Described by WHOSRILA as “a love song, but not a conventional one,” the track is rooted in deep appreciation for someone special. “It’s about appreciating someone so much that you thank God for the way they were made,” he shared.
Blending reggae, hip-hop and R&B, “Made You” was produced and arranged by UK-based producer Farzad Noutash (CIN), WHOSRILA’s main producer and the collaborator behind his 2025 single “Top Form.” Keron “Kalex” Alexander handled mixing and mastering.
Across two verses, WHOSRILA explores that admiration from different angles. The first leans poetic, painting his subject as an “angel in disguise,” with beauty “enough to make the Mona Lisa cry,” while referencing the Black Madonna. The second takes a looser, more playful approach, but makes it clear that his admiration extends beyond physical attraction, celebrating both the woman and her individuality.
“CIN made and arranged the beat,” WHOSRILA said. “Without him, this inspiration would never have come to fruition in this manner.”
The accompanying visual grew from WHOSRILA’s connection with director Jesse James after sharing his catalogue with him, with the pair ultimately choosing “Made You” as the record to bring to life. “The vision was entirely Jesse’s,” WHOSRILA explained. “I brought Lumi along to capture the essence of that vision in still life.”

The visual keeps things simple and performance-driven, reflecting the poetic first verse and the yearning of the second. For WHOSRILA, who began his creative journey as a video director and cinematographer, handing the visual direction to James marked a shift, with photographer Lumi Pulkkinen capturing the accompanying stills.
“Everyone’s role was definitely integral in the execution of this,” he said, crediting the model, artwork designer and stylist.
