Popcaan’s Massive May: Billboard Hot 100 Debut and UK Silver Certification

Dancehall superstar Popcaan earned his first Billboard Hot 100 entry with a surprise feature on Drake’s “Amazing Shape,” while “Silence” and “Risky” reached major streaming milestones globally

May was an impressive month for dancehall superstar Popcaan, who returned to the headlines in a major way with a string of global achievements and chart milestones.

The momentum began with a surprise appearance on Drake’s triple albums release, where Popcaan was featured on the track “Amazing Shape” from the album Maid Of Honour. The collaboration generated massive buzz online and received strong positive feedback from fans worldwide. The song earned Popcaan his first-ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100, while marking his fourth appearance on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100.

The success continued as the Unruly Boss’ hit single “Silence” officially surpassed 50 million streams on Spotify, further cementing the track as one of his leading international records.

Almost simultaneously, his collaboration “Risky” with Nigerian superstar Davido surpassed 100 million views on YouTube while also crossing the 50 million streams mark on Spotify.

And it didn’t stop there. Popcaan also announced an intimate live experience for his latest album Nothing Without God, set to take place on June 13 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. The event will mark the first-ever live performance of the project in Jamaica.

Closing out the month on another high note, “Silence” was officially certified Silver in the United Kingdom on May 29 by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The certification recognizes over 200,000 units in combined sales and streams, marking the 11th UK Silver certification for the Saint Thomas-born superstar.

With a month filled with major milestones, chart success, streaming achievements, and international recognition, Popcaan earns Kaboom Magazine’s Artiste of the Month for May.
