Dancehall star Popcaan secures another UK silver certification for his 2018 hit “Silence,” making it his 11th as he continues his successful week
Popcaan’s “Silence” becomes his 11th silver-certified single in the UK
Dancehall superstar Popcaan, hit single "Silence" was certified silver in the United Kingdom on Friday, May 29 by the British Phonographic Industry.
The certification, which commemorates streams and sales equivalent of 200,000 units, is the ninth silver certification for the Unruly Boss.
Produced by longtime collaborator Dre Skull and featured on Popcaan’s 2018 album Forever, the track continues to showcase impressive longevity years after its release. The official music video, released in 2019, has also continued its steady climb after surpassing 100 million views on YouTube last December. This week, the single additionally crossed the 50 million streams mark on Spotify.
Popcaan’s previous UK Silver-certified records include “Come Over” featuring Jorja Smith, “My Type,” “Can’t Hold We Down” featuring Kano, “2 Cups” featuring Lizzy, Tory Lanez and Fredro Starr, “Twist & Turn” by Drake featuring Popcaan and PARTYNEXTDOOR, “Kisses for Breakfast” with Melissa Steel, “Should’ve Been Me” featuring Naughty Boy and Kyla, “I’m In Control” with AlunaGeorge, and Gorillaz’s “Saturnz Barz,” which also features the Jamaican deejay. He also earned a UK Gold certification for “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” by Jamie xx featuring Young Thug and Popcaan.
Earlier this week, Popcaan continued to cement a successful week in his career after earning his first-ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with his feature on Drake’s “Amazing Shape.” The achievement also marked his fourth appearance on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart.
