The Oklahoma City Thunder won their first NBA championship in franchise history with a 103–91 Game 7 victory over the Indiana Pacers, sealing a thrilling 4–3 series.
Shai Gilges-Alexander was named Finals MVP, capping off an unforgettable season. Tyrese Haliburton’s playoff run ended in heartbreak after suffering am Achilles injury just seven minutes into the game.
The 26-year-old Gilges-Alexander became the first player since LeBron James in 2012–13 to win both the regular season and Finals MVP awards in the same year. He closed Game 7 with 29 points, 12 assists, and 5 rebounds, joining Steph Curry (2015) as the only players in the last decade to win MVP and the championship in the same season.
Jalen Williams added 20 points while Chet Holmgren delivered 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks after halftime.
Despite Indiana’s dream playoff run, their hopes unraveled with Haliburton’s injury. He exited with 9 points in 7 minutes, and his availability for next season remains uncertain.
After years of rebuilding, the Thunder’s young core with SGA, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren won the championship that once eluded their former Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden in 2012. Thirteen years later, the mission is finally accomplished.
