Popcaan ranks as the fourth most-viewed living Jamaican artist
International dancehall superstar Popcaan has officially surpassed 2 billion total views on his YouTube channel, becoming the fourth most-viewed living Jamaican artiste on the platform.
The Unruly Boss joins an elite group of Jamaican stars to reach the milestone, behind Sean Paul with more than 4.5 billion views, Shaggy with approximately 3.5 billion and Vybz Kartel with over 2.5 billion. Reggae legend Bob Marley leads overall with approximately 4.6 billion views.
Over nearly 16 years, Popcaan has built an extensive catalogue while establishing himself as one of dancehall’s leading international figures, powered by major crossover collaborations, global certifications and a consistent run of hits.
His official YouTube channel, established in October 2010, now features more than 350 videos, with some of his biggest and most meaningful records leading the way.
At the top is “Silence,” from his acclaimed 2018 album Forever. The deeply personal track, which is certified Silver in the UK, has amassed more than 126 million views on YouTube.
His 2017 hit “Family” has generated approximately 105 million views across its official music video and audio, while “My Type,” another UK Silver-certified single, has accumulated more than 93 million views across its video and audio uploads.
“Elevate,” featuring Queen Ifrica’s son Imeru Tafari, currently stands at approximately 82 million views, while Popcaan’s spiritual 2017 anthem “We Pray,” featuring Dre Island, has surpassed 62 million.
More recent material has also made a major impact. “St. Thomas Native,” featuring Chronic Law and taken from Popcaan’s fifth studio album, Great Is He, has amassed approximately 58 million views since its 2023 release.
Other major tracks on his channel include Forever standout “Firm & Strong,” “Addicted” with more than 47 million views, “Party Shot” with over 43 million and “Never Sober” with approximately 37 million.
Popcaan’s overall YouTube footprint is even greater when releases hosted outside his official channel are taken into account. Earlier hits such as “Where We Come From,” with more than 43 million views, were uploaded through Mixpak, while “Dream” has generated nearly 50 million views on the RBfilmsJA channel. His Davido collaboration “Risky” has also surpassed 103 million views on YouTube.
With a career featuring international collaborations alongside stars including Drake, Burna Boy, Jorja Smith and Young Thug, Popcaan has firmly established his reputation on the global stage while remaining one of dancehall’s most influential figures.
And as the Unruly Boss himself sings, “numbers don’t lie” - and in this case, those billions of views have also translated into millions in royalties over the years.
