Dancehall superstar Masicka marked a major career milestone with his first-ever solo arena concert, commanding a packed Barclays Center in Brooklyn for what might be the biggest night of his career to date. The landmark show came during a massive weekend for the deejay, just one day after the release of his highly anticipated third studio album, Forever Reign.

Presented as part of CJ Milan’s Reggae Fest Tour, Masicka made a military-inspired entrance dressed in a black-and-white suit before taking the crowd through an extensive catalogue of past and present hits. While he performed only one song, “Spend,” from his newly released album, Masicka used the night to showcase the depth of a catalogue built throughout his rise.

Opening with his smash hit “Whites,” the Genahsyde deejay moved through early and introspective favourites including “They Don’t Know,” “Top Form” and “Drug Lawd,” before switching gears for a ladies segment featuring “Like Gold,” “Moments,” “Fight for Us,” “Hit & Run,” originally featuring Shenseea, and “Rich Sex.”

The night also featured an extensive guest list, with Masicka bringing out Vanessa Bling, American rapper Lola Brooke, producer and rapper Swizz Beatz, Elephant Man and I-Octane. Tarrus Riley joined him for their collaboration “Corner,” while Grammy-winning reggae artiste Keznamdi also made an appearance.

Masicka later switched up his look, returning to the stage in a blue jacket before bringing the night toward its close with some of the more reflective records in his catalogue. “Stay Strong,” “Suicide Note” and “Leader” gave the Barclays Center audience another taste of the range and substance that have helped define his journey.

Masicka continued to seize the New York moment following the show, receiving New York Knicks merchandise after his performance at one of the city’s biggest arenas. He also celebrated the milestone with CJ Milan’s signature sold-out cake, putting a fitting stamp on a landmark night for the dancehall star.
