Jamaican dancehall star Masicka has officially been appointed by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda as a cultural ambassador for youth development.

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda approved the appointment as part of a broader push to expand the country’s creative industries and youth development initiatives.

Director of Communications Maurice Merchant announced the decision during Thursday’s post-Cabinet briefing, outlining a proposal brought forward by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. E.P. Chet Greene.

“The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda approved a proposal presented by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Honorable E.P. Chet Greene, for the appointment of internationally recognized Jamaican recording artist Masicka, formerly known as Javaun Fearon, as cultural ambassador for youth talent development and creative industries collaboration.”
