Dancehall artiste Masicka has issued a public statement following the removal of four of his songs from his YouTube channel after a copyright claim filed earlier this year.

In a message shared with fans, the Jamaican artist said he was made aware that several tracks - including hit songs “Whites,” “Rich Sex,” “Mute,” and “Scope,” were taken down from the platform following the claim.

Masicka, whose real name is Javaun Fearon, said he and his team strongly dispute the allegations and maintain that the recordings were created and released through the proper channels.

“My team and I take intellectual property and creative ownership seriously and strongly dispute these claims,” the statement reads. “All songs released by Javaun Fearon were written by Javaun Fearon and released through the proper channels, and we stand firmly behind the legitimacy and ownership of these recordings.”

According to the artiste, their legal and distribution partners are “currently addressing the matter and taking the necessary steps to have the content restored.” He also noted that situations like this can occur when “inaccurate claims are submitted through automated copyright systems,” which may temporarily affect artists and their fans.
