After stepping away from the scene for a 4-year hiatus, UK-based recording artiste G1 re-emerges, teaming up with Jamaican dancehall artiste Kraff and producer Jiggy D for a fresh cross-Atlantic link-up. The collaboration, “Used To This Life,” blends dancehall with UK drill influences and signals a new chapter for the UK-based artiste, who says the time away played a key role in shaping his comeback.

“I stepped away for a few years to focus on myself and my art, and that time helped me grow creatively and personally,” G1 shared. “Being away actually made me miss music more and reminded me what it means to me, and that’s what made me want to return. ‘Used To This Life’ felt like the right record to come back with because it reflects where I’m at now and sets the tone for this new chapter.”

The collaboration itself came together naturally, with all three creatives feeding off each other’s energy in the studio. “I was in the studio vibing with Jiggy D, and Kraff, who also records there, came into one of my sessions. We chopped it up and it all kind of started naturally from there,” he explained. “The creative process was exciting for me because it happened so organically and everyone brought their own energy.”

Kraff echoed the sentiment, reflecting on how seamless the process felt. “We actually linked up through Jiggy D, and from there it was really just vibes in the studio. There wasn’t too much overthinking - we just locked in, played around with ideas, and let the track come together naturally. The process was smooth, very organic, just feeding off each other’s energy and building something that felt right in the moment.”

With its blend of dancehall and UK drill, the single positions itself for a wider audience, something G1 is fully embracing. “I’m aiming to reach both,” he said. “I don’t really want to put myself in a box or limit myself creatively. I’ve always wanted my music to connect across different sounds and different places, and this track reflects that. It’s about making music that can travel.”

“Used To This Life” dropped on April 23, with visuals shot by Now Or Never Entertainment, who are also among the track’s producers.
