The Jamaica Rugby Football Union (JRFU) has secured a new partner for the 2025–2026 season: Mr. Breakfast, a local company known for its fusion of continental breakfasts and Jamaican flavors.
The partnership includes pre-game breakfast support, airfare for two players, and other contributions valued at over J$1.5 million. This collaboration underscores the growing relationship between sport and private enterprise, particularly as Jamaican rugby continues to gain momentum both locally and internationally.
According to Pascual Gray, Marketing Manager at Mr. Breakfast, the initiative represents more than just sponsorship, it’s a shared investment in national development. “This partnership is built on shared value for both Mr. Breakfast and Rugby Jamaica. On one hand, we’re fueling the team with the energy and nutrition they need to perform at their best, whether it's through pre-game breakfasts or support that gets them physically to the world stage. On the other hand, this partnership allows Mr. Breakfast to stand proudly alongside a rising national sport, connecting our brand with passion, pride, and performance.”
Gray added, “This isn’t just about fueling athletes; it’s about investing in Brand Jamaica. Rugby represents resilience, discipline, and teamwork—values we hold dear as a brand. Supporting these men and women locally and globally allows us to celebrate Jamaican excellence, from the breakfast table to the try line.”
Minister of Sport, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, welcomed the collaboration, noting the vital role nutrition plays in athlete performance. “This signing is a wonderful signing and it’s a great partnership. Nutrition is so important in an athlete’s training and when a partner comes along who will provide that nutrition that’s needed, it speaks volumes to the interest that a corporate body has in seeing that the athletes get the best,” the Sport Minister stated.
She further commented, “To Mr. Breakfast, I’m saying that with your partnership and with the support of the Ministry of Sport, through me as minister and the Sports Development Foundation, the Jamaica Rugby Union is poised to do that much better... it shows that you have confidence in the Jamaica Rugby Union teams, and that you are putting your support in their effort to qualify for the World Cup.”
“This isn’t just about fueling athletes; it’s about investing in Brand Jamaica. Supporting these men and women locally and globally allows us to celebrate Jamaican excellence, from the breakfast table to the try line.”
For the JRFU, this marks a historic moment—their first official partnership with a brand in the breakfast and nutrition category.
Chairman Anthony Johnson said, “This partnership means a whole lot to the team, in that we will have a significant portion of our nutritional needs taken care of by Mr. Breakfast. Nutrition is a vital part of fitness, so having them on board, we value this. It helps the union out tremendously, because we are strapped for funds.”
“My hope from this partnership is that it grows both in a nutritional sense as well as from any mutual monetary benefits. We hope to have a long-term relationship that becomes synonymous with rugby,” Johnson concluded.
Located at 17 Holborn Road in New Kingston, Mr. Breakfast has operated for nearly seven years, serving up meals that blend global breakfast traditions with authentic Jamaican ingredients.
“By aligning with Rugby Jamaica, we want to inspire a national conversation around nutrition, discipline, and pride in local products,” said Gray. “We're not just backing a team; we're championing a mindset. We envision a Jamaica where our brands and athletes grow stronger together—where excellence is fueled locally, and where we all confidently say, ‘Goodbye to boring.’”
