Billboard-charting producer and selector DJ Mac is sampling Mavado and Stacious’ 2010 hit “Come Into My Room” for a new single, “Starbucks,” by fast-rising talent Feloni19. While it has not yet been confirmed as a full riddim project, more artistes could potentially be added as the production develops.
Mac, who is currently touring Europe as part of his global WYFL Tour, is no stranger to thinking outside the box with his productions. From the Fiesta Riddim and Chakka Riddim to his recent WYFL Riddim, the producer has continued to experiment with sounds that stretch beyond traditional dancehall boundaries.
The WYFL Tour heads to Japan next, with stops in Osaka on September 20, Okinawa on September 22, Tokyo on September 25, and Okayama on September 27, marking another major step in the growing international reach of the WYFL movement.
The original “Come Into My Room,” produced by Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, has become a staple on dancehall floors worldwide. More than 15 years after its release, the collaboration has amassed over 35 million views on YouTube and more than 30 million streams on Spotify.
