Jamaican artist Devin Di Dakta’s 2016 single “Bubble,” produced by Equiknoxx, has been featured in a new campaign by luxury headphone brand Beats by Dre, starring Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.
The campaign introduces Yamal as the fictional CEO of “Lamine Records” in a slick promotional video celebrating his rise, coinciding with his appointment as Beats' latest global ambassador, following icons like Leo Messi, Erling Haaland, and LeBron James.
“It’s always a great feeling to see the work getting recognition, especially on this massive scale,” Devin Di Dakta shared with Kaboom Magazine. “I knew in advance. The team behind the commercial had reached out to get clearance and ensure all the business was in order.”
Yamal’s club, FC Barcelona, whose main sponsor is streaming giant Spotify. The club’s deal with Spotify, valued at around €70 million annually, includes naming rights to Spotify Camp Nou, the iconic stadium currently undergoing a major renovation as part of a reported €300 million agreement. Yamal also curates his own playlist on the platform, further linking the worlds of football and music.
A Grammy-nominated artist, Di Dakta remains optimistic and driven. “The possibilities are endless, and I stay open and welcome all opportunities by consistently releasing good music,” he said.
He also had a word of encouragement for fellow creatives: “The main takeaway from this—not just for myself but for other artists—is to keep releasing music. You only miss the shots you don’t take.”
