US-based reggae and dancehall recording artiste Anthony “ASG” Grant is preparing to release his new single, “Perfect,” on July 10. The track aim delivers a dancehall anthem dedicated to his female fans.
Produced by Demone “Guxxie” Gustavus under his Guxxie Music label in collaboration with Grant's ASG Records, “Perfect” pairs dancehall beat with a message of appreciation. While the song carries an explicit edge, Grant says its purpose is to celebrate women, praising their beauty, strength and individuality without disrespecting or objectifying them.
“The inspiration behind ‘Perfect’ came from the fact that I want to highlight the independent women out there,” Grant said. “In addition, I want to compliment each and every woman by letting them know how perfect they are regardless of their appearance. I also wanted to show my gratitude to the strong women out there,” he continued.
Kingston-based producer Guxxie, who grew up in the same community as Grant, has shared a creative partnership with the artiste since 2016. Together, they have co-produced several projects over the years. “Our first production was the Work Medz Riddim,” said Guxxie. “We both produced several artists like Blak Ryno, Devin Di Dakta, Artik and Xyclone. ‘Perfect’ is the first official single together with Anthony “ASG” Grant as the artist.”
Grant expounded, “Guxxie and I both lived on the same street. The chemistry for the song was literally 'perfect'. Once Guxxie heard the melody, he was ready to produce the track.”
Looking ahead to the release, Grant hopes the single will resonate with women across the globe. “My expectations for ‘Perfect’ is that it will bring forth confidence amongst women worldwide. It will make women feel good about themselves and their achievements.”
