Recording artist Yaksta is putting in the work ahead of his sophomore body of work, a full reggae album titled Late Bloomer, set for release later this year.
Already making waves with a string of releases, Yaksta grabbed attention with his single “Pon Di Island”, produced by Grammy-winning artist Kabaka Pyramid under his Bebble Rock label as part of a full juggling project.
The singer recently dropped “Slums Cry”, a track that has resonated deeply with listeners. “Since releasing both reggae and dancehall tracks, I’ve been gathering a lot of momentum and support from radio stations worldwide and locally, especially Fyah 105FM, Zip, Edge, and Irie,” he remarked.
“Slums Cry tells the tale of the harsh realities that exist within ghettos or poorer communities, stories often overlooked or depicted as more violent than they truly are. As always, I take a conscious approach in dancehall to make an impact,” added Yaksta, whose given name is Kemaul ‘Yaksta’ Martin.
With releases like Cease Fire Pt. 1 and its Pt. 2 remix with Chronic Law continuing to bubble, Late Bloomer follows Yaksta’s debut studio album 22, released in 2023.
