Wireless Festival, the biggest hip-hop festival in Europe, has always played a massive role in the annual calendar for Caribbean acts—but this year, it delivered a moment that will stay in the books for years to come.
The major 20th edition, headlined by megastar Drake across all three days, once again proved the festival’s importance to fans of Jamaican dancehall and global Black culture.
Close to 50,000 people gathered at Finsbury Park in North London, where the main stage became a vibrant melting pot of talent from North America, the UK, the Caribbean, particularly Jamaica, and Africa, all converging for a historic day.
While the first two nights featured special guests such as Lauryn Hill, 21 Savage, Central Cee, Latto, and Sexyy Red, the grand Finale on Sunday was no less star-studded.
Instead, Drake gave the spotlight to dancehall giant Vybz Kartel, who was making his long-awaited return to the UK after more than 20 years, and Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy, explaining on stage, “I really wanted to pay my respect to the performers.”
Jamaica was proudly represented throughout the day, with a sea of Jamaican flags flooding the crowd. Dancehall star Masicka made his debut on the prestigious Wireless stage, hitting the main stage with an electrifying set that energized thousands of fans. He delivered crowd favorites like “Whites,” “20 Matic,” and “Hit and Run,” his popular collaboration with Shenseea.
Queen of Dancehall, Spice, brought her experience and signature flair to the stage with a high-energy performance wrapped in Jamaican-themed visuals. She ignited the crowd with hits like “Go Down Deh” and “So Mi Like It,” and added sultry charisma with bold choreography during “Sheets,” keeping the audience fully engaged from start to finish.
Next up was Wireless veteran and dancehall superstar Popcaan, who delivered yet another memorable set with fans singing his hits word for word. He also brought out UK rap duo Krept and Konan, adding an extra layer of excitement to his performance in front of their hometown crowd. The Unruly Boss remains one of the UK fans’ absolute favorites.
Then it was time for the dancehall Worl’ Boss to make his presence felt in London after a 20-year absence.
Vybz Kartel’s victory lap continued in full force. For over an hour, he commanded the stage, unleashing an arsenal of hits. The thousands roared as he teamed up with Spice for their classic “Romping Shop,” a moment that sent waves of excitement through the crowd. He kept the energy high, brought out Moliy for her Billboard Hot 100 hit “Shake It to the Max,” performing it live alongside British-Jamaican rapstress Stefflon Don, as the trio gears up to release the explosive remix of the track very soon.
Kartel’s fiery performance reached new heights when he brought Popcaan back out for their colossal hit “Clarks,” igniting the park as fans sang along in pure ecstasy.
The African Giant, Burna Boy, mesmerized the crowd during his dynamic 30-minute set, setting the stage for Drake’s grand finale.
Drizzy ignited the atmosphere, bringing out Vybz Kartel for a brief but impactful cameo. Kartel entered to his Gold-certified hit “Fever,” while Drake also welcomed Popcaan once again to perform their crowd favorite, “Controlla.” Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema also jumped on stage, with all the artists sharing a powerful moment of unity.
Wireless welcomed over 150,000 fans across three days, but Sunday was stamped as another iconic chapter for Jamaican culture, once again proving its global impact on one of the world’s biggest stages.
