Vybz Kartel collects another achievement as his iconic seasonal hit "Summertime" is certified Silver by the BPI, marking his second Silver certification in the UK following “Fever” in 2023

Vybz Kartel strengthens his global comeback with another silver certification

Vybz Kartel’s iconic 2011 hit “Summertime” has officially been certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The certification, issued on June 27, recognizes over 200,000 units sold and streamed in the UK.

Originally produced by Swedish beatmaker Adde Instrumentals and released under Tad's Records, “Summertime” has become one of dancehall’s biggest summer anthems. Its official music video has surpassed 111 million views on YouTube, with over 115 million views across all versions.

This marks Vybz Kartel’s second Silver certification in the UK, following “Fever” in 2023. Released in 2016 under Adidjahiem Records/TJ Records, “Fever” was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in February 2020 for over 500,000 units sold, and later earned Silver certification in the UK in February 2023 for over 200,000 units. The song has also surpassed 100 million views on YouTube across all versions and racked up over 122 million streams on Spotify.

The Silver certification of “Summertime” marks another milestone in Vybz Kartel’s undeniable return to the spotlight, adding to a growing list of accolades since his release from prison in July last year after 13 years. These include a sold-out show at Barclays Center and other major arenas across the U.S., as well as the Worl’ Boss Tour, which has spanned the Caribbean and several European cities, each stop showcasing his incredible pull power.
