UK producer Wizzy blends British club culture with Jamaican influence on his remix of Rènata and Jamaican recording artiste Farenizzi’s “Save It.”
After Farenizzi sent him the original, Wizzy said he immediately knew where he wanted to take the record, building the remix around snappy drums, high energy, a strong UK bassline and his favourite Korg M1 organ sound.
“As soon as I heard Rènata’s vocal I was sold. She’s got that proper ’90s, early-2000s R&B tone, and it works ridiculously well with faster production. She gave me so much to work with. Definitely one to watch.”
Wizzy also credits time spent in Kingston with influencing his approach to the record. “Visiting Kingston taught me a lot about how people really feel the energy in music. They live it and breathe it, and I took that home with me. I just wanted to bring some of that feeling into my own sound and stay faithful to it. Enjoy.”
For Wizzy, the finished remix represents a meeting point between both musical cultures. “For me, this remix is just a proper meeting point between what I love about Jamaica and the UK sound I’ve grown up around.”
