“To Become One of the Greatest”: Valiant After Male Dancehall Artist of the Year Win

The Dancehall hitmaker collects his second consecutive Male Dancehall Artist of the Year award following a major run that included a sold-out North American tour. “Another step on my journey,” he shared exclusively with Kaboom Magazine

Valiant wins Male Dancehall Artist of the Year

Following a sold-out North American tour last year, which sold more than 10,000 tickets across the run, and with “Passenger Princess” becoming one of the hottest songs on the streets, Valiant continues his strong run after securing his second consecutive Male Dancehall Artist of the Year award, announced Wednesday by the Caribbean Music Awards team.

“I’m grateful and thankful. Always aiming to become one of the greatest, it’s another step on my journey,” Valiant told Kaboom Magazine following the announcement.

The Dancehall star secured five nominations ahead of this year’s edition, which moved from New York to Trinidad and Tobago for the first time.

His nominations came across several major categories, including Dancehall Album of the Year for Prove Them Wrong, Dancehall Song of the Year for “Passenger Princess,” Dancehall Performer of the Year, Dancehall Video of the Year for “Passenger Princess,” and Male Dancehall Artist of the Year.

The latest honour follows Valiant’s win for Male Dancehall Artist of the Year in 2024, while he collected his first Caribbean Music Award in 2023 after being named Best New Dancehall Artist.

Valiant did not attend the ceremony, but celebrated his birthday Saturday in New York, where he reportedly copped a custom rose gold chain valued at J$24 million (approximately US$150,000) as a lavish gift to himself.

Meanwhile, Valiant continues to work on new music, but says he is in no rush to deliver another full-length project, with plans to begin working on a new album when the time is right.
