Tina Clayton claimed the silver medal in the women’s 100m final at the World Championships in Tokyo, running a personal best of 10.76 seconds.
The two-time World U20 champion has now stepped onto the senior global stage as a World Championship silver medalist a remarkable accomplishment for the rising talent. “I will always stay hungry,” she said, after the race.
American sprinter Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, who dominated the season, stormed to victory in 10.61 seconds to secure the world title, becoming the fourth-fastest woman in history. Olympic champion Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia earned bronze in 10.84.
Shericka Jackson finished fourth, matching her season’s best of 10.88, while sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce placed sixth in 11.03, marking her final 100m appearance before retirement.
