Three Monymusk Plantation Rums Named Among the World’s Best by Forbes

The three award-winning Monymusk Plantation rums were featured in Forbes’ May 2026 round-up of the world’s best rums after earning Gold Medals and scores above 92 points at the prestigious international competition

Forbes spotlights Monymusk Plantation after three rums earned Gold at the 2026 Beverage Testing Institute Awards.

Three rums from the Monymusk Plantation portfolio have been awarded Gold Medals at the 2026 Beverage Testing Institute (BevTest) World Spirits Championship, with the results featured in Forbes’ May 2026 round-up of the world’s best rums.

Monymusk Plantation White Overproof Rum and Monymusk Plantation Classic Gold Rum each received outstanding scores of 93 points, while Monymusk Plantation Special Reserve Rum followed closely with 92 points. The trio was awarded Gold Medals at the Chicago-based competition, regarded as one of the spirits industry’s longest-running and most respected awards platforms, where entries are judged through blind tastings by panels of trade professionals.

She credited the team behind the rums. “A lot of credit must go to our technical, production, quality and blending teams who put tremendous care into what we do every day. Great rum does not happen by chance. It takes expertise, consistency and a real commitment to quality over time.”

The Forbes feature also highlighted tasting notes from the BevTest panel. Monymusk Plantation White Overproof Rum was praised for its creamy body and tropical flavours, making it “perfect for cocktailing,” while Monymusk Plantation Classic Gold Rum was described as a “complex, fruity rum.” Monymusk Plantation Special Reserve Rum was noted as “an excellent choice for experienced drinkers.”

The Monymusk Plantation portfolio is produced at the Clarendon Distillery in southern Jamaica, with ageing and blending also carried out there. The rums reflect the traditional Jamaican style of rum-making, with long fermentations, pot-still and column-still blending, and the high-ester, fruit-driven character known internationally as “Jamaican funk.”
