With a musical career spanning three decades, reggae and dancehall icon Sizzla will celebrate his 30th anniversary with a mega concert, named after his timeless single ‘Rise to the Occasion,’ at Sabina Park in Kingston on October 19, during Heroes Weekend.
With over 80 albums released throughout his illustrious career, the “Give Me a Try” singer will take fans on a journey through his musical legacy, promising an epic night for his loyal supporters.
He will be joined by a massive lineup that includes dancehall megastar Bounty Killer, alongside reggae stalwarts such as I-Wayne, Jesse Royal, Christopher Martin, Spragga Benz, Turbulence, Fantan Mojah, Ninja Kid, and more.
Sizzla, whose given name is Miguel Collins, was raised in the August Town area of Kingston by devout Rastafarian parents, shaping the spiritual foundation that would come to define his music and message. Throughout his career, he has made his home at Judgement Yard, a community in August Town, St. Andrew, which also houses Kalonji’s state-of-the-art studio.
Emerging in the late 1990s, Sizzla quickly became one of the leading voices in the conscious dancehall movement, blending fiery lyricism with messages of empowerment, spirituality, and resilience.
Over the years, he has remained dedicated to uplifting and empowering youths from inner-city communities through education and outreach via his Sizzla Kalonji Foundation. His impactful work in these areas received the Humanitarian Award at the annual Caribbean Music Awards earlier this year.
