Ronaldinho to make a shock return to the football pitch at 46
Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho is making a surprise return to the sport after signing with Italian Serie C side Ravenna.
One of the stars of Brazil's 2002 FIFA World Cup-winning team, the former international has come out of retirement to join the third-tier Italian club, adding another chapter to his legendary career.
Ronaldinho officially announced his retirement in 2018, although he had not played professionally since leaving Brazilian club Fluminense in 2015. During his illustrious career, he starred for clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, AC Milan, Flamengo, Atlético Mineiro, and Querétaro.
Now, at 46 years old, the football legend says he is eager to return to the pitch. "I can hardly wait to dance with the ball again, to write a new story together with Ignazio and the entire Cipriani family," Ronaldinho said. "Football has always been a source of joy for me, and I want to bring that spirit to Ravenna."
The move comes shortly after Ronaldinho expanded his presence in the entertainment industry with the launch of Tu Música, his new global music brand and record label. Its inaugural project, CAMISA 10, was released on June 9 ahead of the FIFA World Cup and features an international lineup led by Jamaican superstar Sean Paul on the single "Lead."
