Recognized by Shenseea and Ashley: Young Creative Jathon Gushman Designs His Way to Opportunity

With a growing roster of high-profile clients, an impressive portfolio at just 19, and recognition from industry stars, Jathon Gushman is building his creative path while constantly sharpening his artistry. “Just turning my passion into reality,” he said.

Driven by raw passion, creativity, and a natural eye for design, Jathon Gushman is carving out his space as one of Jamaica’s standout young graphic designers.
The 19-year-old talent is already shaping the visual identity of the local entertainment scene and proving that talent and drive speak louder than age.
In just a few years, Gushman has turned his hobby into a profession, designing graphics that powered coverage of major events like Reggae Sumfest and Carnival in Jamaica. “I started two to three years ago, just turning my passion into reality,” he explained. That passion has since pushed him to the forefront, with designs that have reached wide audiences.
His growing portfolio includes the cover art for two viral “Tip” remixes by Ayetian - one featuring Skillibeng and another featuring Shenseea. Jathon has also worked personally with Shenseea and Stalk Ashley, who both recognized his talent, as well as popular dancehall producer DJ Mac - relationships he says have brought him recognition and respect within the industry. “Working with these caliber artists and producers means a lot to me and makes me proud. The exposure and acknowledgment show me mi really deh pon di right path,” he added.
As a young Jamaican talent, the creative acknowledges that in the local industry you have to be a self-creator once you master a skill. “There are youths who just need to believe. In this place you have to embrace bravery and use your own talent to create a stable job for yourself,” he echoed.
With fresh ideas, relentless ambition, and a constant drive to improve his skills, Gushman is not just designing graphics - he’s building his future in Jamaica’s entertainment industry.
