Kingston’s capital skies opened up just hours before one of the city’s biggest annual water parties was set to begin, but not even heavy rain could dampen the energy at Soak’d Nox. Staged at UWI, the event doubled as a birthday celebration for dancehall artist Skippa and one of Jamaica’s most in-demand MCs, Fyahman.

By the time the showers slowed, more than 2,500 revelers, mostly Gen-Z, flooded the venue, ready to party in true dancehall fashion. Fyahman’s electrifying set kept the crowd buzzing and paved the way for live performances and surprise appearances that turned the night into a full-scale celebration of Jamaica’s young talent.

Skippa proved why he’s a fan favorite, with the audience belting out every lyric to his songs word for word, including "Go", "Mozart", and even newer tracks like "Evil". Skeng, always a guaranteed powerhouse, brought his unmatched energy, while Kraff and RajahWild made memorable cameos that added extra fire to the night. The excitement peaked when the ladies’ favorite, Valiant, hit the stage. Wasting no time, he launched into his scorching single Passenger Princess, which sent the crowd, especially the females, into a frenzy of screams and sing-alongs.

From start to finish, Soak’d Nox was more than just a water party; it was a celebration of the new generation of dancehall. With the genre’s current frontrunners commanding the stage, the night stood as a testament to the dominance of Jamaica’s Gen-Z sound and energy.
