Popcaan goes independent and spiritual

International dancehall superstar Popcaan has released his sixth studio album, Nothing Without God, his first major body of work since the 2023 album Great Is He, which marked his final release under OVO Sound. Since parting ways with the label, the Unruly Boss has fully embraced the independent route.

The 14-track project, which was initially planned as a 12-song release and later expanded by two additional tracks, was completed and scheduled for release prior to the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, giving the timing of its arrival deeper meaning.

More than a collection of songs, Nothing Without God is an emotional and spiritual journey - a reminder that even in the darkest moments, God remains present. Through deeply personal storytelling and uplifting melodies, Popcaan blends gratitude, reflection, and perseverance, offering both comfort and motivation to fans across the globe.

Grounded in real-life experiences, the project reflects Popcaan’s ongoing evolution as an artist and as a man of faith.“This project come from a real place — from loss, from learning, and from faith,” says the Unruly Boss. “We’ve all been through so much, and I just want people to remember that no matter how rough it gets, God never leave us. He carry we through the storm every time.”

The 14-track album is named after Popcaan’s previously released single “Nothing Without God,” produced by Droptop Records, which has amassed over 7.3 million views on YouTube to date.

Leading singles include the standout “Immortal Life,” produced by Damage Musiq; “Climb Up,” produced by Emudio Records; and “Preserve Me.” Previously released tracks such as “Family First,” featuring his younger brother Natebadz, and “Kick It Wid Myself,” featuring Chronic Law, explore themes of loyalty, self-belief, and perseverance.

“It’s not just about me or music,” Popcaan adds. “It’s about the people, the country, and remembering that we’re still blessed. Jamaica strong, and God still deh yah.”

A wide range of producers contribute to the project, giving the album its versatility, as each adds a unique sonic touch. From experienced, established hitmakers such as Droptop Records , who is credited on three songs, Anju Blaxx, Damage Musiq, Dre Skull, and Dane Ray, to the legendary Notnice Records on the closing track “We Alright,” Popcaan also uses the moment to spotlight a new generation of talent, including his nephew Joel Engineer and Disaster Music.

Nothing Without God will be available on all major streaming platforms on November 7, 2025, via Unruly Entertainment / One RPM.
