Netflix secures exclusive U.S. broadcasting rights for the next two FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments, FIFA confirmed Friday

Netflix will exclusively broadcast the next two FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments in the U.S. and Puerto Rico

FIFA has announced that the 2027 and 2031 editions of the FIFA Women's World Cup will be exclusively streamed on Netflix in the United States and Puerto Rico.

"This is a landmark moment for sports media rights," FIFA president Gianni Infantino said. "As a marquee brand and FIFA's new long-term partner, Netflix has shown a very strong level of commitment to growing women's football.

The agreement also extends to Puerto Rico and includes broadcasts in both English and Spanish. This deal with Netflix replaces the previous arrangement, which split broadcasting rights between Fox and Telemundo.

As part of this landmark partnership, Netflix will stream all 64 matches of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, set to take place in Brazil, within the United States. The platform will also offer immersive coverage, complete with star-studded studio shows.

The United States and Mexico are among the prospective bidders to host the 2031 tournament. Hosting two consecutive tournaments in similar time zones across the Americas is expected to significantly boost Netflix's viewership figures in the United States.
