Dancehall star Mavado's highly anticipated concert at London’s O2 Arena, originally scheduled for May 10, has been canceled for unclear reasons.

Although no official announcement has been made by the artist or promoters, ticket holders received emails on Friday, May 2, confirming the cancellation. The event is also now marked as canceled on the O2 website.

Venue cites organizer notification

“The event organisers have been in touch to let us know that Mavado's performance at The O2 on Saturday 10 May has now been cancelled. We will be automatically refunding your tickets to the method of payment you used to buy your tickets, so you don’t need to do anything further. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” a statement on the venue’s website reads. Sources indicate that political issues and low ticket sales may have contributed to the decision.

The show, announced in February in partnership with Live Nation UK, was meant to mark Mavado’s return to the UK following a successful performance last year in Croydon. A separate show at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham was previously canceled due to illness. Chronic Law and Vanessa Bling were also expected to share the stage with the Gully God.

Last weekend, Mavado performed in Barbados and shared rare footage with his son, Dantay Brooks—appearing publicly for the first time since Brooks’ murder conviction was overturned. He was also joined by his daughter, rising dancehall artist Skye Diamond. The "So Special" deejay also hit the stage on Saturday at UBS Arena in New York as part of Aidonia's 20th anniversary celebration.
