Dancehall superstar Mavado’s long-awaited return to Toronto after nine years delivered another successful night for Dancehall, as more than 19,000 fans packed the iconic Scotiabank Arena on Thursday, November 5.

Dubbed The Return of the Gully Gad, the sold-out concert marked another major moment in Mavado’s impressive run this year, as the Dancehall heavyweight delivered a solid performance lasting over an hour, backed by a live band.

The “I'm So Special” deejay ran through an extensive catalogue of hits, including “Gangster,” “Touch Di Road,” “Hope and Pray” and “I'm on the Rock,” to name a few, before treating the ladies to tracks such as “When You Feel Lonely” and “Come Into My Room.”

Rising Dancehall star Armanii was the first to take the stage, bringing his signature style and connecting with the ladies through popular singles including “B.B.B. (Snapchat),” “Link Up” and more.

Masicka, who continues to enjoy strong momentum on the international Dancehall scene, emerged as another major attraction of the night. Dressed in jeans and a turquoise jacket, the 1Syde deejay commanded the stage with hit after hit, describing the occasion as “a good look for Dancehall” while giving a big shout-out to Mavado.

His energetic set featured a mix of past and current hits, including “Whites,” “Tyrant,” “They Don't Know,” “Leader,” “Mute” and “20 Matic.” He also catered to the ladies with “Rich Sex,” “Moments,” originally featuring Stefflon Don, and “Slip N Slide,” repeatedly testing the crowd as fans loudly sang along to his songs.

Promoter Skip2Fame celebrated the achievement on Instagram, revealing that the concert sold out in just one month without the backing of a major entertainment company.

Skip2Fame, who maintains close ties with Toronto superstar Drake, credited the city's support for helping make the event a success, further highlighting the strong demand for Dancehall in the Canadian market.

The milestone marked Mavado’s first Canadian performance since 2017 and his debut at Scotiabank Arena, following fellow Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel, who sold out the venue for three consecutive shows last year.
