Dancehall star Mavado has secured his first-ever BRIT certification in the United Kingdom, as his hit single “When You Feel Lonely” has officially been certified Silver.
Produced by Daseca, the track received the certification after surpassing 200,000 qualifying units in the UK, with the award officially issued by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) on Friday, October 9. The certification reflects combined sales and streaming equivalents, as measured by the Official Charts Company.
Originally released in June 2010 through Daseca Productions, the song has amassed over 27 million views on YouTube and more than 46.5 million streams on Spotify, highlighting its enduring popularity more than 16 years after its debut.
The milestone follows Mavado's recent debut at London's O2 Arena, where he reunited with longtime rival-turned-collaborator Vybz Kartel for the sold-out Gaza vs. Gully showdown.
Mavado's international momentum is set to continue with his highly anticipated concert at Toronto's iconic Scotiabank Arena on November 5. The performance will mark his first appearance in Canada since 2017 and his debut at the arena, ending a nine-year absence from the Canadian stage.
