Dancehall superstar Mavado announced as the headliner for the debut Reggae Fest in Jamaica, slated for December 27 at Plantation Cove in Ocho Rios, marking his first performance on home soil in over a decade.
The show is being organized by US-based promoter CJ Milan under her Reggae Fest Tour brand, one of the leading event platforms in the dancehall space. The event marks Milan’s debut staging in Jamaica as she brings her flagship festival to the island for the first time.
The announcement follows his return to Jamaica for the first time since 2017, after reports confirmed that a warrant issued for his arrest was lifted on Wednesday morning by local authorities.
The Gully Gad, who arrived in Jamaica on Tuesday night after nearly a decade abroad, is set to deliver his full arsenal of hits live on stage, including fan favorites such as “Weh Dem Ah Do,” “So Special,” “On the Rock,” "Gangsta For Life", “Progress,” and more, making this one of the most highly anticipated events for his loyal fans.
CJ Milan has built a strong reputation in the industry as the creative force behind major productions such as Vybz Kartel’s historic three-peat at Barclays Center and Bounty Killer’s concert in July, where Mavado made an appearance as well.
The entertainer first rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with his breakout hit “Real McKoy” in 2005. As a member of The Alliance, under the mentorship of Bounty Killer, he quickly carved out his own lane and went on to become one of the genre’s most influential and enduring stars.
