With the addition of their newest member, America Foster, Major Lazer returns with a fresh batch of remixes for their latest single, “GANGSTA,” featuring Busy Signal and Kybba. The remix pack marks the official Major Lazer debut of Foster and follows the original track’s premiere last month.
Foster, a British-Jamaican multi-talented creator and artist, joined Diplo, Ape Drums, and Walshy Fire this summer, becoming the group’s first female member. While in the U.K. for Notting Hill Carnival, she delivered a viral freestyle with Busy Signal at Capital XTRA’s studio, inspiring her to record her own take over the “GANGSTA” instrumental.
The “GANGSTA” Remix Pack includes Foster’s freestyle, a French version featuring Maureen, and club-ready remixes from Bontan and DJ Fade x Jason Julian. All versions were released via Mad Decent on Friday, October 3.
The collaboration is no coincidence, as “GANGSTA” features Jamaican dancehall icon Busy Signal, a longtime Major Lazer collaborator who helped shape the group’s 2013 global hit “Watch Out For This (Bumaye)” and several other classics. The track also includes Italian-born, Amsterdam-based basshall producer Kybba.
Major Lazer, and Busy Signal, made huge internatnaiol success with the group’s work on the group’s 2013 monster single “Watch Out For This (Bumaye)” and other tracks. “Gangsta” also features Italian-born, Amsterdam-based basshall producer Kybba.
“Coming back out now with America and Busy Signal feels like starting a new chapter while revisiting an old one,” said Diplo. “Busy Signal was a big part of our journey with Major Lazer, blessing us with his incredible vocals on ‘Bumaye,’ a massive single that helped define what Major Lazer was going to be. Now, more than a decade later, we’re starting another journey with America joining the group. It’s amazing how much she complements the dynamic we’ve already established with Walshy and Ape Drums.”
“Gangsta” marks Major Lazer’s first official release of 2025, and with America Foster’s addition, it also represents the first time the group has become a foursome, and the first time it has included a woman, signaling a new era of growth and ambition.
The four-member electronic group is set to perform at Coachella 2026 in April in Los Angeles, marking another major milestone in this new chapter for Major Lazer.
