Grammy-winning reggae artist Kabaka Pyramid releases his new single “Jamaica” on Friday, May 30, a soulful tribute to his beloved homeland.
The track is part of the expanded Pon Di Island Riddim compilation from his Bebble Rock Music label, celebrating Jamaica’s vibrant culture, natural beauty, and global influence.
Built on a breezy, sun-soaked riddim first introduced with Yaksta’s “Pon Di Island” (Sept 2024) and followed by Jah Lil’s “Hold Corner” (Dec 2024), the project now features six new tracks. Three were released on May 23, with five more coming in June, led by Kabaka’s “Jamaica.”
In his signature lyrical style, Kabaka paints a vivid picture of island life — from beaches and local fruits to national heroes and athletic legends. The soaring chorus reflects his pride:
“Me fly all around, go whole heap a town Collect nuff euro and pounds But nowhere no nice like Jamaica Nowhere nuh up like Jamaica”
Produced by Kabaka Pyramid under his own label, Bebble Rock Music, the Pon Di Island Riddim leans into modern roots reggae and features an impressive lineup, including Capleton & Pressure, Dre Island (“Cold World”), Qraig & Singer J, Irie Souljah, Jah Izrehl, and Khalia, alongside earlier releases from Yaksta and Jah Lil. The compilation blends conscious lyrics with uplifting melodies, echoing reggae’s timeless spirit while resonating with a new generation.
