A college sprinter has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, who was also an athlete at the same university.
Guyanese sprinter Denita Jackson has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of her boyfriend, Kevaughn Goldson, according to KMIZ, citing Cole County Prosecutor Locke Thompson.
Goldson, 23, was a senior men’s track and field athlete at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, he was regarded as a standout sprinter during his time at the institutionץ
Jackson, 27, also a senior and member of the university’s women’s track and field team, is from Berbice, Guyana.
According to court documents, the incident unfolded late Sunday into early Monday. Jackson and Goldson were reportedly in a romantic relationship marked by previous domestic disputes. The latest argument allegedly began over a missing bottle of cologne, with Jackson telling police she suspected Goldson of having an affair with one of her roommates.
Investigators say Jackson returned home shortly after 1:00 a.m. and used a hairpin to unlock her roommate’s door, where she allegedly found Goldson and the roommate in bed, fully clothed. A confrontation followed, escalating into a physical altercation. Authorities said Jackson later called 911 at 1:09 a.m.

Goldson was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a university medical facility, where he died during emergency surgery. Court records indicate the relationship had a history of domestic violence.
Lincoln University expressed condolences, stating: “Our thoughts are with the family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic situation,” and confirmed that counseling services are being offered to students and staff.
Jackson remains in custody at the Cole County Jail without bond, facing felony charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
