Dancehall artiste Iwaata drops new project, leaning into traditional reggae elements and delivering a Valentine-season love letter with depth, produced by Redboom Supamix

Iwaata showcases versatility on his new EP
Dancehall artist Iwaata steps into a different sonic lane with his new six-track project Word’s Not Enough, leaning heavily into reggae elements, one-drop beats, and traditional instrumentation to showcase his diversity.
Produced by acclaimed producer Ricardo “Redboom Supamix” Reid under his SMX Musiq, alongside Iwaata’s Crashweh Records, the project is sonically rooted in reggae and explores themes of love, arriving just in time for Valentine’s season. While much of the EP feels like a musical love letter to women, tracks such as “God Is Love” introduce a spiritual layer, adding depth beyond romance.
The Papine Town native, whose given name is Jason Bailey, surprises listeners with his ability to ride one-drop beats and traditional reggae grooves with ease - a contrast to the high-energy dancehall style many associate him with. Redboom, who has worked closely with Iwaata for several years, played a key role in shaping the project’s cohesive, polished sound.
“We’ve been trying to send something different in this project, but it still talks the message of love,” Redboom shared.
The project follows Iwaata’s 15-track debut album Underrated, which he described as a playtape. That project marked a defining moment in his career, featuring collaborations such as “Never Basic” with Aidonia, alongside appearances from Junior Reid and Najeeriii, further cementing his versatility.
Meanwhile, Iwaata is set to return to Canada this month, with a scheduled performance at Amore Club in Toronto on February 21.
