For everyone who made the August 30 submission deadline for the 2026 Grammy Awards, the next milestone is the first round of voting, which begins this Friday.
Among the hopefuls seeking consideration for Best Reggae Album is Jamaican reggae-dancehall artist I-Octane with his acclaimed project God & I, which has held a spot in the iTunes Reggae Top 10 for the past four months.
“The project is a divine project, all the songs are divine. People have been asking me for this kind of project, so I delivered this album, and the appreciation has been overwhelming,” Octane explained.
Discussing his strategy to push the album, he added: “I’m literally in the streets with my team promoting it, doing groundwork like in the early ’90s. I introduce myself to people in America, even in random places, and tell them to listen. They say, ‘Oh, I like your attitude, I like your vibes,’ and give it a try. That’s why it’s been holding strong on the charts.”
